It is confirmed by the media that Sana Yousaf's mother launched the FIR against the brutal murder of her daughter. After the FIR, police obtained the CCTV footage of the culprit. It is reported that the culprit had the victim's iPhone and he was a resident of Faisalabad. The culprit was arrested in Faisalabad, and the culprit also has agreed to his crime. He said that he murdered Sana Yousaf because she said no to his proposal of marriage, and his last attempt was on her birthday, which was held in late May 2025. The complaint has been filed under Section 302, and the culprit can face the death penalty as well.

She used to promote cultural awareness, women's rights, and other educational awareness. She was marked as a social media activist, and she also used to promote Chitrali traditions in her videos and posts. However, on social media, Sana Yousuf has been the center of attention. 

IG Islamabad has taken notice of the event, as social media suggests that it is likely an honor killing, which has a rich history in Pakistan. Social media suggests that this is a trend in Pakistan: when a woman gets famous on social media, her family member or any member of the family tries to kill her due to cultural issues. It has to be stopped in Pakistan, as it is becoming a norm to kill kids, especially women, in the name of honor killing. IG Islamabad has called for CCTV, and an inquiry has been started.
