PCB Appoints Mike Hesson as the new White Ball Coach of National Team
There has been no doubt that the Pakistan cricket team has been struggling since the premature departure of Sarfaraz Ahmed due to Misbha Ul Haq and Waqar Younis's personal dislike of Sarfaraz Ahmed. He ensured that Pakistan won the Champions Trophy 2017 against India in the final. However, after that there were several hiccups, which led to the departure of Sarfaraz Ahmed. Since Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan took over, the Pakistan cricket team has been worse than the USA team, as it lacks a modern approach and modern style of play. Both of these players, including Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf, took the Pakistan cricket team as a hostage, and Pakistan is now the bottom-ranked team.
Mike Hesson will be strong on a mission as the Pakistan team is totally down and out. He will have to figure out how to make the current Pakistan team competitive and what the right players to choose for T20 and one-day cricket. Additionally, he would have to ensure that players get selected on merit, which is the most difficult task, as there are some examples of players getting selected due to VIP contacts, which has to be stopped from now on. It is hoped that Mike Hesson would also take Pakistan's fielding very seriously. Pakistan has major flaws in their fielding and catching, especially in pressure matches, which we all witnessed in this year's PSL season 10.
Mike Hesson has more than 10 years of experience coaching, and he made the New Zealand team remarkable in 2015. He knows what players to choose and what Pakistan requires. However, it is now up to PCB to cooperate with Mike Hesson to ensure that the Pakistan Cricket Board has to focus on the long term so that knee-jerk reactions are reduced. All analysts and well-wishers of Pakistan cricket hope that Mike Hesson can easily do his job and that he will focus on long-term planning for Pakistan cricket.
