PTA updates about Starlink Launch in Pakistan.

Starlink is the hottest topic in Pakistan due to severe Internet issues, including outages, slowdowns, submarine cable cuts, and slow browsers. According to international experts, this has cost Pakistan around US $350 million. Pakistan is one of the worst countries for the Internet, and Its internet speed was also considered one of the worst.

Today, the National Standing Committee for IT held a meeting, and the PTA chairman shared the most awaited update that Starlink already applied for its services for Pakistan in February 2022; however, due to the regulatory body's terms and conditions, it is a must for Starlink to register on SECP (Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan) to start the wheel moving and get regulated by our regulatory bodies so they can work within the Pakistan regulatory framework.

In short, the PTA chairperson told the committee it's up to the government to issue licenses, and it's not in the PTA hands to provide licenses.

Moreover, Senators were concerned about Elon Musk's comments about Pakistan. They said it's documented that his posts were mostly anti-Pakistani. Some senators suggest that Elon Musk's apology should be conditioned on the Starlink license to operate in Pakistan.
