Why Pakistani Entertainment Industry is in such a mess
It is a fact that few people are bothered about the Pakistani entertainment industry due to its mess, and it does not attract the audience at all. Yes, this is a fact: the entertainment industry is dying in Pakistan because all entertainment projects in Pakistan are like the same story with just a touch-up of different words and cast. This is a fact: cinemas are dying in Pakistan, and all these cinemas rely on Hollywood A-grade movies to survive; otherwise, cinemas have to go for week-long empty seats because Pakistani movies are not an attraction, and nobody bothers to spend money on them. 95% of projects in Pakistan are based on marriages and Desi mother-in-law politics against her daughter-in-law. That is the entire story about Pakistan's entertainment industry.
There are no gray characters, no character progression, no emotional connection, and no grooming of the characters. This is also the fault of actors as well, because the actors are not good on screen as well, because there is no art education in Pakistan to teach acting. There are no proper institutions that can teach acting in Pakistan. India has the highest art educational institution in Asia. A blockbuster or box office movie is worth only 50 million to 10 million PKR; however, in India, the blockbuster is considered to be worth at least 1 billion Indian rupees. Therefore, this is the major reason why our actors desperately want to work in the Indian entertainment industry.
The government must encourage bold projects in Pakistan, where at times the government blocks movies or drama serials due to criticism of the government or any message that is negative towards the government. This is why all stakeholders have to ensure that tolerance needs to be shown for the projects. Moreover, directors and producers need to be educated in this regard, and especially writers; it requires a massive amount of research and knowledge. One great example is that Pakistani movies are made within a 3-5 month time frame, whereas Hollywood and Bollywood movies are made within a 3-4 year time frame due to writers' research and storytelling.
